Seneca Ranch (also known as Seneca Second Chance Youth Ranch) is a boarding school and that works with troubled adolescents in a kind, humane and non-invasive manner. Seneca Ranch provides a safe, secure environment for adolescents needing change in their lives. It is an island of hope for families seeking to help their troubled child. Seneca is a great choice for a teen who may be struggling in his or her home, school or community. Although distinct in its own right, its program shares some similar elements with boot camps, wilderness programs, military schools and other specialized youth boarding schools. It is a Christian-based boarding school, distinctly different from a State of South Carolina group home or residential treatment center.
As a boarding school in beautiful South Carolina, we shut down each year from December 20th to January 30th for our mission trips to Costa Rica or for students to go home for the holidays.
All counseling and formal therapy is provided by experienced outside licensed counselors and centers.* Seneca Ranch is located in Carolina's beautiful upstate region, near Andersen, SC and provides a safe haven, away from inappropriate friends and influences.
Student body: What kind of Student Needs Our Services
Seneca Ranch works with students that typically need a change in their existing environment. Such students may have a variety of issues such as ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder), Aspergers syndrome, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, prior substance abuse, or inappropriate relationships involving sexual permissiveness. These issues greatly hamper their ability to succeed in their homes and communities.
Seneca Ranch is a working 500-acre horse and cattle ranch, providing boarding school students a rare opportunity to actually work daily in a ranch setting. It includes 120 head of beef cattle and a P.R.E (Pura Raza Española-Andalusian) Spanish thoroughbred horse farm. We provide home schooling, a merit system, and a comprehensive emotional growth process. The process includes therapy with sub-contracted, independent licensed counselors, to facilitate growth and change in the students. Many parents find that our down-home family ranch atmosphere works better for their children than residential treatment centers, boot camps, wilderness therapy programs, or military schools, where they may have been previously enrolled. The youth served by Seneca Ranch come to us with a variety of self-limiting conditions. We teach traditional Judeo-Christian values of honesty, integrity and hard work in order to form new horizons in the hearts and minds of the students in our care. We invite you to come visit us, and re-discover with your child, the virtues and morals of the past as we prepare your child for a promising future, in an environment of trust and love, common to the culture of rural South Carolina.
Note: Therapists who work with our students are independent, licensed counselors who provide subcontracted services to students who participate in our boarding school program. As a result, every student at Seneca Ranch has a advocate and voice, separate and independent from Seneca Ranch.
